Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Leak Reveals a Major Camera Redesign

Samsung’s next flagship phone isn’t expected until early 2027, but leaks about the Galaxy S27 Ultra are already picking up pace — and if they’re accurate, it could be the biggest visual overhaul to the Ultra line in years. Leaker Ice Universe, along with CAD renders reportedly sourced from frequent tipster OnLeaks, point to a complete departure from Samsung’s long-running vertical camera layout.

Instead, the S27 Ultra is rumored to switch to a wide, horizontal camera bar housing three rear sensors — a look that multiple outlets have compared directly to Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro. Reported specs behind that camera bar include a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, replacing the current model’s separate 3x and 10x zoom lenses with a single, longer-reaching one.

Interestingly, the redesign apparently won’t be shared across the whole lineup. Leaked renders suggest the standard Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus will keep a more familiar vertical camera stack, meaning the base and Ultra models could end up looking less alike than in past generations — something a few reports suggest may not sit well with longtime Galaxy fans.

Elsewhere, the rumored spec sheet points to a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip, 12GB or 16GB of RAM, a 5,700mAh battery built with newer silicon-carbon technology for more capacity in the same size, and support for Qi2 magnetic wireless charging built into the phone itself for the first time. The phone’s physical dimensions are said to stay nearly identical to the current Galaxy S26 Ultra despite the redesign.

It’s worth remembering that none of this is official yet. Samsung hasn’t confirmed the Galaxy S27 series, and renders this far ahead of launch — likely early 2027 — can and do change as the phone moves through development. Still, with multiple independent leakers converging on similar details, this is shaping up to be one of the more closely watched Android redesigns in recent memory.
